Medical Intensive Care Unit Charge Nurse Whitney has been honored with
the North Oaks Health System Nurse Excellence Award.
"To me, emotionally supporting our patients is as important as the
physical care we give them," explains Whitney.
She started her North Oaks career nine years ago as a Medical Intensive
Care Unit (MICU) Nurse Tech. After graduation from SLU, she worked as
a Staff RN on the Intermediate Care Unit for more than 5 years and then
the MICU for just over two years. She was promoted to MICU Charge Nurse
A native of Loranger, she lives in Ponchatoula with her husband Colby,
their daughter Charlie Rose, 1, and their English bulldog, Foxy Lady.
Nursing is family tradition for Whitney. Her grandmother was an OR Nurse,
and her sister is a Nurse Practitioner.
“One of Whitney’s best qualities is her ability to ease the
tensions known to arise in caring for critically ill patients," notes
Charles Abrams, Medical Intensive Care Nursing Unit Manager. "She
holds herself and others to the highest of care standards in this challenging
environment and is completely devoted to her patients and coworkers.”
