Box’s interest in a medical career was sparked at an early age by helping her mother as a caregiver for her grandmother.

“I knew that I wanted to do much more to help people live a healthy and dignified life.”

From preventive screenings and annual checkups to treatment of illnesses and management of chronic diseases, Box is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and specializes in comprehensive healthcare for families. She takes a special interest in women’s health, mental wellbeing and helping patients with diabetes hardwire healthy lifestyle changes.

Box comes to North Oaks with five years of experience gained at hospitals in specialized healthcare settings around the Greater New Orleans area, working with labor and delivery patients and organ transplant recipients pre- and post-operatively. “My journey has given me invaluable insights to share with my patient base as a family nurse practitioner,” Box notes.

“My approach to patient care is to first establish a friendly rapport with my patients and then work with them to achieve the best outcome possible through preventative medicine and an ongoing plan of care,” shares Box. “I want to do everything I can to encourage everyone to have annual physicals and screenings and incorporate healthy habits into their lifestyle.”

Prior to earning both a doctorate in Nursing Practice and a master’s degree in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University, Box graduated from Louisiana State University (LSU) with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

While an undergraduate, she belonged to a Pre-Professional Health Organization that enabled her to volunteer at several area hospitals, including North Oaks Medical Center.

Through an Inter-Professional Student Alliance and Student Nurses Association at LSU, she gave of her time at women’s shelters and assisting with health fairs, health screenings and various community organizations, including The Gift of Sight, Children’s Hospital of New Orleans, Audubon Zoo, Gears for Gals, Feeding the Multitudes, Student Mentors Advising Real Time Choices and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
