Critical Care Charge Nurse Brooke Receives Nurse Excellence Award

Critical Care Charge Nurse Brooke Receives Nurse Excellence Award

Critical Care Charge Nurse Brooke has been honored with the North Oaks Health System Nurse Excellence Award for September 2021.

Since childhood, Brooke always dreamed of following in her mother's footsteps to become a nurse. In 2014, Brooke started her journey as a Nurse Tech on the North Oaks Medical Center Surgical Intensive Care Unit. After graduation from nursing school, she became a Staff Registered Nurse on the Orthopedic/Neurosurgery Unit and then the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). In 2020, she was promoted to MICU Charge Nurse. She also has experience as a preceptor to help onboard new nurses and serves on the MICU’s unit based shared governance council.

“I love being a part of a team that collaborates to ensure critical care patients receive optimal and compassionate care,” shares Brooke.

Before earning a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University, Brooke earned an associate degree in Nursing from Charity School of Nursing. She is a Certified Critical Care Nurse and belongs to the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.

Loranger is home to Brooke, her husband Christopher and their 2-year-old daughter Parker.

Family time is Brooke’s top priority away from work.

“Brooke cares with her whole heart and exemplifies the attributes of a true leader, patient advocate and devoted coworker," asserts Medicine/Telemetry Director Charles Abrams. "She always steps in to lend a hand, share her expertise and offer comfort from her deep well of compassion without ever being asked.”
