Patient Care Technician Cynthia Honored as Employee of the Month

Patient Care Technician Cynthia has received North Oaks Health System's Employee of the Month Award for December 2020.

Cynthia joined the North Oaks Telemetry Unit team in 2002 as a Certified Nursing Assistant. In 2004, she transferred to Same Day Surgery as a Patient Care Technician.

"Each and every day, I try to brighten the day for and lift the spirits of others," shares Cynthia.

A graduate of Amite High School in her hometown, Cynthia graduated from Delta College in Baton Rouge’s Medical Assistant program. She is currently studying Criminal Justice through Northshore Technical Community College in Hammond.

Her interest in a patient care career was inspired by encouragement she received from her grandfather. “He was wheelchair-bound, and so when he was sick, I took care of him,” she explains.

Cynthia and her husband Reginald live in Amite. She has four grown children and three step-children, Vatasha, Regina, Javontae (and his wife Lanesia), Tyrus, Deborah, Reginald and Tabiyus. She is very proud of her children and 16 grandchildren.

As pastimes, Cynthia is fond of traveling, bowling and cheering on her son Tyrus, who plays football on scholarship at Mississippi State University in Starkville. Tyrus wears jersey No. 2 and plays linebacker for the Bulldogs.

She also serves on the hospitality committee of her church, Greater Revival Center Church of God in Christ in Roseland.

“Cynthia works nonstop to help her coworkers deliver extraordinary patient care," affirms Clinical Nurse Manager Carmen Krail. "She exceeds the expectations of what it means to be a team player each and every day and brings comfort to our patients through her skill, smile, compassion and courtesy.”
