Intermediate Care Unit Charge Nurse Miranda Receives Nurse Excellence Award

Intermediate Care Unit Charge Nurse Miranda has received North Oaks Health System's Nurse Excellence Award for March 2020.

In 2014, the Intermediate Care Unit team welcomed Miranda as a Staff Registered Nurse. She was promoted to Charge Nurse in 2017. As such, Miranda makes it her goals to promote teamwork and maintain a calm and stress-free environment to enhance patient and staff safety.

Miranda remarks, “I love that every day is an opportunity to learn something new from my peers, our medical staff and our patients.”

After graduating from Charity School of Nursing in New Orleans with an associate degree in Nursing, Miranda also earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Currently, she is enrolled at the University of South Alabama, where she is pursuing master’s degrees as both a Family and Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner. Her expected graduation date is May 2022.

“Nursing challenges me. Best of all, it empowers me to make a difference and comfort those in need," shares Miranda.

She lives in her native Slidell with Bentley, her Havanese puppy. She belongs to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Slidell and serves as a Eucharistic minister.

As pastimes, Miranda has an affinity for travel and values spending time with family and friends – especially her 1-year-old godchild, Fulton.

“Miranda is actively involved in efforts to implement best practices for patient care at the system and departmental levels," affirms Kacy Arnold, clinical nurse manager. "She champions teamwork and prioritizes showing appreciation for high-performing staff members.”
