Update: October 8, 2020

Quote of the Day: We are family.

  • Michele asked for a moment of silence to remember Print Shop Supervisor Luke Canzoneri, who passed away unexpectedly on Sunday.

COVID-19

  • State Stats: Louisiana reports 170,097 cases, with 5,411 deaths. There are 552 people in the hospital, with 78 on vents. The positivity rate for Tangipahoa Parish remains in the low 6’s and the number of hospitalizations remains stable. Dr. Peltier expects this pattern to continue for the foreseeable future until there is a vaccine.
  • North Oaks Stats:
    • North Oaks has tested 13,431 patients with 2,147 positive and 139 tests pending. We have successfully recovered 525 patients (up 14 from last Thursday). Unfortunately we have had two new deaths since last Thursday.
    • NOMC: 13 COVID-positive patients and 1 PUI, with 1 patient on a vent.
    • NORH: Census of 15 with 1 COVID-positive patient.
    • Hood: Census of 22 with 1 COVID-positive patient.
  • Employee wellness reports 16 employees out monitoring symptoms (3 RNs and 1 respiratory therapist).
  • All staff are required to monitor their temperature two times/day. Please continue to wear masks correctly and socially distance.
  • Staffing is good.
  • Supplies are good.
  • Our volunteers are back! Please stop by and say hello.
  • The Surgery Center is now open on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and things are going well.
  • Doors to the signature building will be open this Saturday morning for MRI patients from 7 a.m. – noon.
  • Pediatric patients are allowed to have both parents with them in any care setting (hospital, clinics, ODC, surgery center).

HURRICANE DELTA

  • This morning’s report has the storm tracking a bit more to the west, and we are outside the cone of uncertainty.
  • Landfall is projected to be late Friday evening and move quickly. We may receive some winds mid-late Friday.
  • No transfers from other hospitals are anticipated.
  • At this time, we are planning on business as usual on Friday.
  • Non-essential staff concerned about traveling home Friday afternoon should speak with their supervisor about the possibility of early departure.
  • Out of an abundance of caution, shelter in place is available for staff who wish to shelter in place. At NOMC call 7013, and at NORH call 1624 to make a reservation.

OTHER IMPORTANT NEWS:

  • Only one of the three staff elevators in the signature building is operating this morning. Because these are used frequently for patient transport from the ED to the units, staff are asked to use alternate elevators until they are repaired. Elevator service is on the way.
  • Please be sure to get your flu shot. HR will be adding sessions to accommodate volume.
  • Supervisors – please remember to approve payroll by Sunday at 10 a.m.
  • Everyone – please complete the Press Ganey employee engagement survey. We are currently at 42% completion, and our goal is 75%. The survey is open through October 15th.
  • The virtual employee forum has been posted to Oaklink and our new employee FB group. Please take a few minutes to check it out.
