Thought of the day: “Promise me you’ll always remember that you’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” -- Winnie the Pooh

  • State Stats: Louisiana reports 177,399 cases of COVID-19, with 5,584 deaths. Hospitalizations are up slightly to 608, with 68 patients on vents.
  • Dr. Peltier shared that the Tangipahoa Parish positivity rate is up from 5.8% to 6.8%, which is stable. This number is based on the number of tests administered. The incidence rate is reported every two weeks, and will be updated next week. Last week we were at 120/100K.
  • North Oaks Stats:
    • North Oaks has tested 114,196 people, with 2,194 positive results and 107 tests pending.
    • NOMC has 12 COVID-positive patients in-house (up 2 from last Thursday) with 0 PUI, and 3 patients on vents. We have successfully recovered 540 COVID patients (up 7 from last week) and thankfully have had no new COVID-related deaths this week.

    • Hood has a census of 18 with 0 COVID-19 positive patients.
  • Employee Wellness reports 18 staff home monitoring symptoms (7 RNs, 0 Respiratory Therapists), with 17 returning to work since last Thursday. Remember that employees waiting for test results must stay at home until results are received, and must be cleared by Employee Wellness before returning to work.
  • Kanna reports volume at Walk-in Clinics is steady, with a declining number of patients presenting with symptoms of COVID.
  • Terri reports surgery volume trending a bit lower than a typical October, but is steady.
  • Staffing is tight at the moment. Thanks to all who have covered extra shifts.
  • Supplies are in good shape.
  • The first of two shipments of North Oaks masks has been distributed. Remember that these masks are not appropriate for wear in clinical areas. If you work in direct patient care areas at any North Oaks facility, you may wear it into the building; however, you must change to a medical-grade, disposable mask at the front door or upon arrival to your unit/clinic.
