Update: May 15, 2020

  • Today is Friday, May 15th, 2020.

  • State Stats: The state of Louisiana has 33,489 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 2,351 deaths. There are 1,193 patients hospitalized, with 140 on vents. The total number of presumed recovered patients is 236,836.

  • The Governor’s written guidance for Phase I, released last night, did not make any changes to the “time sensitive” mandate. Dr. Peltier will update us if that changes.

  • North Oaks Stats: We have 27 COVID-19 positive patients in-house today, with 2 on vents. No PUIs. We successfully recovered another 2 patients this week, bringing our total recovered to 150. Unfortunately, we did have one death of a nursing home patient since our last update.

  • Our visitation policy had not changed. Same Day Surgery patients may have one support person, who must wear a mask and wait in the patient’s room at all times. Laboring patients may have one support person, who must be masked and remain in the room at all times. Non-COVID patients at the end of life are allowed one immediate family member to be with them. They must mask and stay in the room. Family members may swap out. Nursing should call the Main Entrance to make arrangements for visitors in this situation.

  • No report from Employee Wellness.

  • No issues with staffing or supplies.

  • Kirsten reports 44 patients are scheduled for the drive through today, with 11 in the queue. We have provided a total of 2,403 tests, with 484 positive results and 68 results pending.

  • Population Health reports 53 calls and 5 video visits yesterday.

  • Kanna reports that clinics are working on staffing plans for next week, anticipating a continuation of increased volumes next week.

  • Terri reports a 10% increase in surgeries this week, bringing us to 50% of normal volume.

  • There are 160 patients scheduled for the ODC today, and we anticipate more than 200 on Monday.

  • BLOOD LEVELS ARE CRITICAL. Please donate blood if you are able. We will be hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, May 20th in the ODC from 7:30 – 3:00. Ruth will be sending details later today.

  • Please be diligent about wearing masks on campus, and wearing them appropriately. Cover the nose, mouth and chin. Please wear them in all areas, including the cafeteria, lobbies and the PJ’s line.

  • NEW UPDATE SCHEDULE. Updates will now be published once a week on Wednesdays.

Have a great weekend! Remember to mask and social distance as we enter Phase I!
