Update: August 11, 2020

  • COVID by the Numbers:
    • State Stats: 131,961 cases; 4,169 deaths; 1,382 hospitalized (trending down), with 215 on vents (trending down.)
    • North Oaks Stats:
      • NOMC: 36 positive cases in-house (up 12 from last Thursday), 8 on vents (up 1 from Thursday.) We’ve recovered 391 patients (up 10 from Thursday.)
      • NORH: Census is 18; 1 positive case.
      • Hood: Census is 16; 2 positive cases.
      • We have tested a total of 9,754 patients, with 1,749 positive and 181 results pending.
      • The drive-through testing station remains closed.
      • The COVID Hotline received 89 calls yesterday, and conducted four video visits.
  • Dr. Peltier states that the plateau in our region and in the state is encouraging. Masking has been successful and we hope to see reductions in hospitalizations soon. Remember, however, there’s a two-week lag, so with schools opening, we may see a spike.
  • Speaking of schools – kudos to the team who help provide COVID testing for SLU athletes last week. They responded to a mandate from NCAA that was effective immediately (you gotta love that!) and did a great job. A special shout out to registration, those performing swabbing and the lab. Y’all are awesome!
  • Clinic and outpatient volume is steady. Surgery continues to be busy.
  • Employee wellness reports 36 employees out monitoring symptoms; 8 are RNs and 2 are respiratory therapists. Twelve employees returned to work yesterday.
  • Kirsten reports staffing continues to be tight. Many thanks to our nursing staff for stepping up to ensure we have sufficient coverage.
  • Amanda sends kudos to everyone for the great job wearing masks appropriately. Keep up the great work!
  • The supply of gloves is critically low in some sizes. Please take care not to waste. We continue to work on replenishing supplies in the short term – and we are anticipating a big shipment in September.
  • Everyone is doing a great job working together and staying nimble as we continue to navigate the challenges posed by the pandemic. Each and every one of you is appreciated!
