Listen to Your Heart. Choose North Oaks.

When it comes to heart health, North Oaks offers several interventional cardiology treatments.

  • Alcohol Septal Ablation (ASA) - A minimally invasive procedure which relieves symptoms associated with an abnormal thickening of the heart muscle.
  • Angioplasty - A procedure that uses a balloon at the point of a blockage to widen an artery. A stent may be used to prop open the artery to improve blood flow.
  • Atrial Septal Defect Closure (ASD) - A minimally invasive procedure, as compared to open heart surgery, that closes defects in patients with secundum ASD.
  • Aortic, Mitral and Pulmonic Valvuloplasty - A less invasive balloon procedure in which a narrowed heart valve is stretched open without open-heart surgery. This procedure can be performed on patients who are not candidates for valve replacements.
  • Peripheral Angiogram - A test that uses X-rays and dye to help your doctor find and open blocked areas in one or more of the arteries that supplies blood to your legs.
  • Chronic Total Occlusion (CTO) Intervention – A less invasive procedure that may be an alternative to CABG or Coronary Artery Bypass Graft. For patients who have at least one artery that is completely closed (CTO) and have had previous attempts of repair.
  • Left Atrial Appendage Closure (LAAC) Implant - LAAC is a minimally invasive procedure for people with atrial fibrillation not caused by a heart valve problem (non-valvular A-fib). A small implant called the WATCHMAN® is inserted into the heart through a catheter in a leg vein to close off the left atrial appendage, where, in patients with non-valvular A-Fib, blood commonly pools and clots due to the heart’s inability to pump normally. The implantation of this device permanently reduces blood clot and stroke risk without the worries that come with blood thinners.
  • TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement) - TAVR is a minimally invasive option for people with severe aortic stenosis (narrowing of the aortic valve opening). A new valve is installed through a catheter in a vein into the damaged aortic valve. Once implanted, the valve is inflated — much like a stent — and deploys to look and perform like a natural heart valve.

  • Robotic Thoracic Surgery - A minimally invasive surgery used to remove diseased lung tissue and possibly surrounding lymph nodes. Small instruments attached to a robotic arm are placed through small incisions between the ribs. The magnified view and wristed tools allow the surgeon to make precise, controlled movements to remove lung tissue without making larger incisions to open the chest or spread the ribs. The robotic technique can be used for other chest procedures involving the lungs, esophagus, thymus and certain cardiac procedures besides lung cancer surgery.
