Interventional Radiology is a sub-specialty of Radiology, which performs minimally invasive, image-guided therapies.
Interventional Radiology procedures use imaging, such as X-ray, CT scan, or Ultrasound to ‘see’ the organ or disease. In comparison to conventional surgery, this less-invasive treatment method offers patients smaller incisions, faster recovery times and typically fewer complications. There are Interventional Radiology options for many common illnesses and surgical procedures. These include artery blockages, uterine fibroids, and cancers of the lung, kidney and liver.
