Are you interested in a chance to...

...learn new skills
...develop new interests
...make new friends
...grow in understanding
and most of all, ... enjoy the satisfaction that comes from helping others?

Become a North Oaks volunteer! Anybody can volunteer. Volunteers are caring people just like you and me who want to enrich lives – their own and those of the people they touch. Never has there been such a need for caring as there is today. No experience or prior training is necessary.

Many volunteer opportunities are available through the Volunteer Services Department of North Oaks. From the Gift Shop to our Same Day Surgery Center, to the men and women who help patients upon discharge, volunteers make a difference at North Oaks. As a volunteer, you choose a position that's right for you. Our volunteers range in age from 14 to 80+ and include:

  • Student Volunteers – For students currently enrolled in a college program and working toward a health care career. Students should have completed at least two semesters of course work.

    Student Volunteer Application (pdf)
  • Junior Volunteers – For young people, ages 14-17, providing the opportunity to learn in an environment of commitment and responsibility.

Through the North Oaks Junior Volunteer Program, those selected will be able to use their interest in the health and welfare of others through the summer months and, if their schedule will allow it, throughout the school year, too.

If you or someone you know can give a minimum of 40 hours of service over a 6-week period of time during the summer and meet the age requirement. For more information on volunteering at North Oaks or to obtain an application, please contact Volunteer Services at (985) 230-6811.

  • Medical Explorers – This program is designed by the Boy Scouts of America for young adults between the ages of 14 and 20. The hospital-sponsored post allows young people who have an interest in health care to study and "explore" the career possibilities available to them through meetings and scheduled observation of hospital personnel.
