Pediatric Rehabilitation
The North Oaks Medical Center Department of Rehabilitation Services offers outpatient pediatric physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy to meet the individual needs of the pediatric population. Following a comprehensive evaluation, an individualized plan of care is developed which involves hands-on therapy provided with skill and compassion to assist each child in reaching his/her fullest potential. Conditions for which therapy can be provided include:

Pediatric Physical Therapy
Deals with the rehabilitation of children with special needs following trauma, genetic disorders, neurological problems, orthopedic problems and wounds. These problems can result in a disturbance in child development. Physical therapy treatments include addressing the specific disabilities while evaluating the following gross motor and development skills:
• Range of Motion (ROM)
• Muscle Strengthening and Stretching
• Gait Training
• Evaluation and Treatment of Abnormal
• Posture,Tone and Reflexes
• Wound Care
• Functional Activities
• Orthotic/Prosthetic Evaluation and Fabrication
• Seating and Wheelchair Evaluation in Conjunction with Occupational Therapy
• Inhibitive Serial Casting
• Parent Education.

Pediatric Occupational Therapy
The occupational therapy program addresses physical and developmental disabilities which interfere with upper extremity function and independence in self-care and activities of daily living. Specialized services include:
• Splint Fabrication/Inhibitory Casting
• Wheelchair Evaluation/Seating Assessment (in conjunction with Physical Therapy)
• Activities of Daily Living Training (i.e., feeding, dressing, leisure)
• Perceptual-Motor Training
• Adaptive Equipment Selection and Training
• Evaluation and Treatment of Premature and Other High-Risk Newborns
• Fine-Motor Training
• Oral-Motor Feeding Management
• Upper Extremity Prosthetic Training
• Treatment for Sensory Integration Dysfunction
• Parent Education

Pediatric Speech Therapy
Speech therapy provides assessment and individualized programs to improve the child's communication skills, auditory processing and/or swallowing difficulties.
• Language Delay/Disorders
• Articulation Delay/Disorders
• Dysfluency (Stuttering)
• Voice Disorders
• Oral Motor Deficits
• Dysphagia (Videofluoroscopy)
• Head Injury and Aphasia
• Augmentation Evaluations and Program Development (in conjunction with Occupational Therapy)
• Parent Education
Audiological services provide identification and measurement of hearing loss, rehabilitation of those with hearing impairments and parent education.These include specific deficits as follows:
