An MRI is a scan that uses powerful magnets and radio waves to create precise body images to aid in diagnosing and treating many illnesses and conditions. At North Oaks Diagnostic Center, our MRI is circular-shaped, with flared openings on both sides, and provides the clearest and most accurate picture possible. This is because the magnet strength is up to five times stronger than that of an open MRI, providing high-quality, high resolution images while reducing scan times.
During your MRI, you will be able to relax to soft music in a spacious suite, filled with natural light from a large window designed for your privacy. Prism eye glasses will put you at ease during your exam by allowing you to see outside of the MRI.
Results will be given to your physician within 24 hours. Studies are read by board-certified radiologists from Northshore Imaging Associates, LLC, and are available to your physician in CD format upon request.
Got a question about radiology? E-mail your question to radiology@northoaks.org and one of our staff members will reply within 48 hours. Sorry, no medical advice can be exchanged.
