CMR Unit Facts
For Fiscal Year 2006, 440 patients were admitted to the CMR Unit. The following is a breakdown of the diagnoses and the number of patients per diagnosis:
• Stroke (83)
• Multiple Trauma (4)
• Brain Injury (22)
• Neurological Condition (i.e., Guillian Barre, Multiple Sclerosis,
Motor Neuron Disease, Muscular Dystrophy, Polyneuropathy,
Parkinson’s Disease) (70)
• Spinal Cord Injury (18)
• Amputation (11)
• Fracture of Lower Extremity (72)
• Replacement of Lower Extremity (86)
• Arthritis (8)
• Other Orthopedics (26)
• Pain (1)
• Cardiac (14)
• Pulmonary (7)
• Medically Complex/Debility (18). The average for hours of therapy per day was 5.3 hours.
The average age of patients was 71 years old.
Of the 440 admits, 64% were female and 36% were male.
For CMR Unit patients, discharge dispositions were as follows:
• Community (70%)
• Long-term care (12%)
• Acute care (15%)
• Rehabilitation (3%).
Average length of stay was 11 days.
