Hammond Cardiology Becomes North Oaks Cardiology on Nov. 1
Same Familiar Physicians & Location: Just a New Name

Hammond Cardiology has become a clinic of North Oaks Health System effective Nov. 1, 2007, according to North Oaks Chief Operating Officer Michele Kidd Sutton.

The medical clinic, which will now be known as North Oaks Cardiology, will retain the same location at 16070 Doctors Blvd. in Hammond and the same staff of physicians: Drs. Patrick A. Delaney, Jherie D. Ducombs, William P. Kopfler and Claude T. Nesser. Clinic hours of operation will be 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays.

In a joint statement, Drs. Delaney, Ducombs, Kopfler and Nesser explain, “With North Oaks managing our medical practice, we will be able to focus all of our energy on the health care needs of our patients. While our name has changed, what remains the same is our commitment to quality patient care and location.”

North Oaks Clinic Director Regina Scott adds, “North Oaks Cardiology and the North Oaks Health System clinic network share a common vision for the growth of quality cardiovascular services in our community, as well as a commitment to personalized health care.”

The physicians of North Oaks Cardiology specialize in the diagnosis of heart disease and the treatment of the heart and its functions for adolescents and adults. The clinic’s full scope of cardiovascular care services includes: disease management and prevention; diagnosis; interventional treatment; and recovery and rehabilitation management.

A member of the North Oaks medical staff since 1991, Dr. Delaney earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed both his internship and residency through Charity Hospital and a fellowship in cardiology through Tulane University School of Medicine/VA Medical Center, all in New Orleans. Dr. Delaney is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, and he is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Professionally, he belongs to the Louisiana State Medical Society, Southern Medical Society and Tangipahoa Parish Medical Society. He served as Medicine Chairman for the Medical Executive Committee of North Oaks Medical Center in 1994.

Dr. Ducombs earned her medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, and she completed her internship and residency programs at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. She then completed her fellowship in cardiology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Dr. Ducombs joined the North Oaks Medical Staff in 2004. She is currently serving as Member at Large on the Medical Executive Committee of North Oaks Medical Center. Dr. Ducombs is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, and she is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Professionally, she belongs to the American Medical Association, Louisiana State Medical Society and Tangipahoa Parish Medical Society.

Dr. Kopfler graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed his internship, residency and fellowship in cardiology at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. In addition to holding certification through the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, Dr. Kopfler also is board certified in interventional cardiology. He has been a member of the North Oaks Medical Staff since 1996 and served as North Oaks Medical Center’s Chief of Staff for 2003 and as a Member at Large on the hospital’s Medical Executive Committee from 1999-2000. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and belongs to the American College of Physicians, American Medical Society and Tangipahoa Parish Medical Society.

A member of the North Oaks Medical Staff since 1988, Dr. Nesser earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed his internship, residency and fellowship in cardiology through Ochsner Foundation Hospital, also in New Orleans. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, and he is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Professionally, he is a past-president of the Tangipahoa Parish Medical Society and also belongs to the American College of Chest Physicians, American Medical Association, American Society of Internal Medicine, Louisiana State Medical Society and Southern Medical Association. He served as North Oaks Medical Center’s Chief of Staff in 1996 and as Medicine Chairman for the hospital’s Medical Executive Committee in 1991.
