North Oaks Diabetes Education to Host Free “Diabetes Management during the Holiday Season” Class
Learn more about improving your eating habits and lifestyle while living with diabetes at the North Oaks Diabetes Education program’s free “Diabetes Management during the Holiday Season” class on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 5:30 p.m. on the second floor of North Oaks Diagnostic Center in Employee Training Center 1, located at 15837 Paul Vega, MD, Drive in Hammond.
Endocrinologist Harold J. Miller, MD, will share valuable insights for maintaining a healthy lifestyle with diabetes. In addition, representatives of North Oaks Diabetes Education and Nutritional Services departments will be on hand to discuss tips for eating healthy during the holiday season. Guests also will have the opportunity to sample nutritious holiday food dishes.
According to the Americans Diabetes Association, nearly 21 million children and adults in the United States are living with diabetes, and another 54 million people are at-risk. North Oaks Diabetes Education is hosting this event in recognition of November as American Diabetes Month. This event, as well as the program’s monthly support group meetings, are free and open to those with diabetes, as well as their family members and friends.
