Diabetes and Exercise: Get Movin’! Feel Good!
[HAMMOND, LA] – By attending North Oaks Diabetes Support Group Meeting in April, persons with diabetes and their families and friends will learn about the important role exercise plays in controlling diabetes.
North Oaks Rehabilitation Services Physical Therapist Annie Schmitt will lead the April meeting and share the benefits of aquatic exercise with participants. The meeting will be held free of charge in E. Brent Dufreche Conference Center Meeting Room C, located within North Oaks Diagnostic Center in Hammond, on Wednesday, April 4 from 6-7 p.m.
Aquatic exercise reduces stress to the joints and allows patients to strengthen and tone muscles through resistance. Aquatic fitness stretches and tones the upper and lower body and improves cardiovascular endurance. North Oaks Aquatic Center offers group and self-paced exercise sessions supervised by health care professionals trained to accommodate known medical conditions through North Oaks Wellness. No contracts or start up fees apply.
