Watkins Promoted to Assistant Operations Officer of North Oaks Health System
Michael Watkins of Hammond has been promoted to Assistant Operations Officer for North Oaks Health System.
Watkins, who brings more than 2 decades of management and leadership experience to his new role, will assist North Oaks Chief Operating Officer Michele Kidd Sutton with short- and long-term planning for the health system. In addition, he will provide administrative leadership to health system departments that report to Sutton in the areas of efficiency, quality assurance and financial performance.
The former North Oaks Contracts Coordinator began his career with the health system in 2002 as Senior Financial Analyst. He went on to earn promotions as Budget Program Manager and Senior Business Development Representative before becoming Contracts Coordinator in 2004. From 2003 to 2005, he also served as an Instructor in finance for Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond.
Prior to his association with North Oaks, Watkins worked as a Network Administrator for Elmer Candy Corporation in Ponchatoula for 4 years. His professional career also includes 3 years of experience working as an Industrial Engineer Technician for Intel Corporation in Hillsboro, Ore. and 13 years of experience as a Supervisor for James River Corporation in Portland, Ore.
Watkins earned a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond. Professionally, he belongs to the National Contract Management Association and also is an active member and former board member of the Ponchatoula Kiwanis Club.
