Spring into Health at the Robert Community Health Fair

[ROBERT, LA]—Plan to “Spring into Health” with your family at the Robert Community Health Fair. The free event will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2007 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Crossgate Church in Robert.

The health fair is designed to appeal to all ages. North Oaks Health System, The Blood Center and Wal-Mart Distribution Center are co-sponsoring the health fair with the assistance of Crossgate Church, the Robert Volunteer Fire Department, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Department and Audubon ZOOMobile. Free health screenings, children’s activities and a “Preventative Health Showcase” are planned.

North Oaks will provide blood pressure checks, cholesterol, triglyceride and glucose screenings, as well as heart health and sleep disorder risk assessments. Wal-Mart Vision Center will offer free eye screenings, and The Blood Center will conduct a blood drive.

The Audubon ZOOMobile will be on hand with snakes, baby alligators, armadillos, guinea pigs, parrots, turtles, birds, ferrets, and more! Children also will be able to partake in a Teddy Bear Clinic, finger printing and Stranger Danger education by the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Department and explore fire trucks and fire safety.

North Oaks Exercise Specialists will lead “Fit for Life” Wellness Group Exercise demos to show kids and teens how easy it is to “get moving and feel good” through physical fitness.

If parents are wondering if their children’s car seat is safely installed, they can take part in car seat checks along with seatbelt safety education at the Preventative Health Showcase. Back safety demos, massage, smoking cessation, wellness group exercise and community health education class information also will be available.

With valuable health screenings, safety information, children’s activities, door prizes, refreshments, and entertainment, the Robert Community Health Fair can help your family spring into health and have fun too!
