North Oaks Diabetes Support Group
to Learn about Risk Factors for Heart Disease
The North Oaks Diabetes Support Group will learn about risk factors for heart disease, as well as tips for lifestyle modification to reduce the risk of heart disease at their Tuesday, Jan. 8 meeting from 3-4 p.m. The free meeting will be held in Meeting Room C of the E. Brent Dufreche Conference Center, located within North Oaks Diagnostic Center in Hammond.
Many people with diabetes have health problems such as high blood pressure and cholesterol that increase their risk for heart disease and stroke. North Oaks Heart Health Center Disease Management and Prevention Coordinator Darlene Blades, BSN, RN, will lead a presentation to help support group participants understand which risk factors are controllable and to learn practical ways to lower their risk levels for the disease.
Registration for North Oaks Diabetes Support Group meetings is not required. For more information about the support group, call the North Oaks Diabetes Education Clinic, which is recognized as a “Center of Excellence in Diabetes Education” by the American Diabetes Association, at (985) 230-5723.
