Healthy Eating in the “Fast Lane”
The North Oaks Diabetes Support Group will learn how to make healthier choices when considering fast foods at their Wednesday, Oct. 10 meeting from 6-7 p.m.
The free meeting will be held in Meeting Room C of the E. Brent Dufreche Conference Center, located within North Oaks Diagnostic Center in Hammond.
Today’s busy lifestyles may mean it’s more convenient to dine out or eat fast food rather than prepare home-cooked meals. Even if you don’t have diabetes, frequent convenience food consumption may increase your risk of heart disease and obesity. Support group participants will benefit from North Oaks Dietetic Intern Rebecca Markway’s presentation of practical ways to eat healthier on-the-go, including tips to make more nutritious meal choices at fast-food restaurants.
Registration for North Oaks Diabetes Support Group meetings is not required. For more information about the support group, call the North Oaks Diabetes Education Clinic—which is recognized as a “Center of Excellence in Diabetes Education” by the American Diabetes Association—at (985) 230-5723.
