Final Phase of North Oaks Rehabilitation Hospital Expansion Calls for Temporary Relocation of Main Entrance and Closure of Cafeteria

Expansion and renovation on the south half of North Oaks Rehabilitation Hospital, located at 1900 South Morrison Blvd. in Hammond, will begin Monday, November 6. This final phase of construction will require the temporary relocation of the Main Hospital Entrance and closure of the Cafeteria to the public for 6 months, according to North Oaks Facility Development and Property Management Officer Brian Hannah.

The newly renovated Canopy Entrance, located on the north half of the hospital, will serve as the temporary Main Hospital Entrance and will be marked by directional signage. The Canopy Entrance is located between the entrances to North Oaks Aquatic Center and North Oaks Occupational Health Services and Walk-In Clinic, which also has been recently renovated.

Patient meal service will not be affected by the Cafeteria closure.

The North Oaks Rehabilitation Hospital renovation represents a $6.2 million community investment and is part of phase one of the health system’s overall $200 million accelerated facility expansion plan. The North Oaks Rehabilitation Hospital project will add over 2,000 square feet to the facility and rededicate 29,016 square feet of space. Once complete, the renovation will double the size of the inpatient Rehabilitation Gym, add two patient Solariums, and enlarge the Main Lobby, Cafeteria and Dining Areas. A new façade of white metal panels also will be added to match the architectural style of North Oaks Medical Center. The construction timetable is subject to change due to weather.
