Support Group Meetings
AWAKE (Alert, Well And Keep Energetic) Support Group
This support group is designed for those with a sleep disorder, along with their families and friends, to explore the link between snoring and heart disease. Lauren L. Davis, MD, a Pulmonologist and North Oaks Sleep Disorder Specialist, will serve as guest speaker. Quarterly meetings of this nationally-recognized support group are facilitated by North Oaks Sleep Disorders Center, which is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
Connection Peer Support Group (NAMI)
This support group is designed for adults suffering from a mental illness of any diagnosis, as well as their family members. It offers a casual and relaxed approach to sharing the challenges and successes of coping with mental illness. Each group session is led by trained individuals who also are in the recovery process. Meetings are held monthly.
Diabetes Support Group
This support group is designed for those with diabetes, along with their family members and friends, to share experiences, motivate each other, energize their outlook and renew their commitment. The group is facilitated by North Oaks Diabetes Education, which has been recognized by the American Diabetes Association for Quality Self-management Education. Meetings are held monthly.
Family-to-Family Support Group (NAMI)
This support group is designed for family members who have someone in their family suffering from a mental illness. Family members learn how to support their loved ones and are able to receive information about NAMI education courses as well as other valuable, local resources on mental illness through this support group. Meetings are held monthly.
Families Touching Families—Filling the Gap Meeting
This support group is designed for children who are separated from their parents due to incarceration, divorce, separation or disaster situations. Meetings are held twice a month.
Group Living with Affective Disorders Support Group
This support group is designed for all ages of citizens experiencing anxiety disorders, mental illness, post-traumatic, OCD and bipolar conditions. Meetings are held weekly.
"Look Good...Feel Better" Presentation for Women in Cancer Treatment
Look Good...Feel Better is a dinner program sponsored by the Tangipahoa Parish Cancer Support Group and American Cancer Society to enhance the self-image of women living with cancer. The program offers free makeovers and a take-home cosmetic kit, as well as practical, personalized advice about make-up and skin care, wig selection and upkeep, and creative ways to use scarves, hats and turbans. Northlake Area Transplant Support Group
This support group is designed for individuals, who have had or are waiting for an organ transplant, and their loved ones. Meetings are held quarterly.
