Radiologic Technology Students Sweep State Essay Competition for 2nd Consecutive Year

[Hammond, LA]- North Oaks School of Radiologic Technology students swept the essay competition at the 55th annual meeting of the Louisiana Society of Radiology Technologists (LSRT) recently held in Lafayette. This marks the 2nd consecutive year that the students from the school earned 1st, 2nd and 3rd place honors in the essay competition.

Jessica Blanchard of Holden and Amber Johnson of LaPlace earned 1st place with their essay, "Saving Lives through Imaging One Organ at a Time." Laura Bordelon of Mandeville placed 2nd with her essay, "Becoming Informed: CT Full Body Screening,"and Robbie Lara of Hammond took 3rd place with her essay, "Pediatric Radiation Dose: Limit or Else." All essays were judged on originality, educational value and organization. 

"We are extremely proud of our students. Winning the statewide essay competition is a prestigious honor, and to sweep the contest for 2 consecutive years is unprecedented," affirms Marsha J. Talbert, who is Program Director of North Oaks School of Radiologic Technology.

The North Oaks School of Radiologic Technology is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology. Students are trained to use advanced technology and equipment to obtain images for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injury as part of a dynamic health care team.
Upon program completion, students are eligible to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) National Certification examination and apply for Louisiana state licensure. The school is located at 42367 Deluxe Plaza, Suite 27 in Hammond and is now accepting applications for the class of 2013-2015.
